Evaluating wetland hydrological performance under three different conservation programs in Nebraska, United States, during 2018–2021

Abstract Assessing hydrological dynamics of wetlands is essential for understanding ecological services. This study utilized open‐access Sentinel‐2 satellite data to enhance conservation management by enabling near‐real‐time monitoring and assessment in conserved lands across Nebraska, United States. Using machine learning Google Earth Engine, this research classifies surface water cover rate different land sites Nebraska 2018–2021. The results the confirmed successful inundation performance wetland under Wildlife Management Areas (WMA), Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP), Waterfowl Production (WPA). WMA had highest inundated area 16.41%, indicating active core areas. WRP WPA reached a mean annual 8.07% 7.51%, respectively, demonstrating occasional flooding or periodic areas but limited coverages surrounding findings that practices are functioning very well on with higher rates, restoration at watershed scale could boost entire provide robust evidence obtaining data, which crucial sustainable achieving long‐term goals monitoring, protection, management.
